30/01/09 - GIVE YOUR SELF A BREAK!!!

GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK!!!

No, I'm not really talking about cruising off into the Caribbean sunset or lining Easy Jet's pockets with a culture trip to Eastern Europe - Although very tempting.  Today's blog is actually centred around you and your innate propensity for self-punishment. Again I'm not alluding to all you secret worshippers of ‘Opus Dei' Da Vinci code self flagellation or Sado Masochist dungeons - although if that floats your boat who am I to judge.GIVE YOUR SELF A BREAK!!!

GIVE YOUR SELF A BREAK!!!Self-punishment along the lines of the incremental, daily abuses we inflict on ourselves without even realising it. The consistent drip, drip, drip of: Over- zealous scrubbing of your teeth, of saying your ‘bum' looks big , of chain smoking and hating yourself for it after the rush of the puff has past, of disgustedly picking your nails, at telling your friends how bad you are at dancing (substitute your nadir), of how your feet (substitute again) look so ugly, of giving yourself a hard time for not meditating, not eating well of not having friends, of getting angry (substitute at will here) berating yourself for missing a friend's birthday, of regretting never having told a parent how you really feel... GIVE YOUR SELF A BREAK!!! GIVE YOUR SELF A BREAK!!!

Enough already!!! If everyone of those drip, drip drip self-attacks took the form of a dart you would not be able to see your physical form for want of hundreds of thousands of metal arrows sticking out of you - bulls eyes and ‘9' dart check outs every hour or so... Stop stop stop...Believe me when I listen to people and talk and tune in psychically to their thoughts or read their energies - The majority of us are allowing negative self image, self-hatred, self-attack, self-punishment to easily over crowd any love, nourishment, nurturing and praise we could be heaping on ourselves.

Before you start giving yourself a hard time for recognising what you have been doing - stop - before another self-inflicted arrow hits its target. I'll throw something at you from left field (not another dart) - considering I'm a grounded, martial artist from the Welsh valleys -Why not take a day to break down all of what you do into a self nourishing and nurturing day of love for your own soul. It may start something like this: Wake up and thank your body for all the amazing restorative functions it completed for you while you rested. Clean your teeth and brush the imaginary words ‘love' and ‘shine' into the enamel as you clean. Shower and then put some moisturiser on picturing love and gratitude being absorbed into all areas of your body...GIVE YOUR SELF A BREAK!!! GIVE YOUR SELF A BREAK!!!

... Know how amazing your feet are for already having carried you for hundreds and thousands of miles in your thus far life - wow.  Recognise the beauty of how you can chew food more slowly, savouring the taste and marvel at how your body is going to transmute what you swallow into energy, function and life-force. Go to work, run your errands and congratulate yourself on the small miracles you are manifesting all day that you may be taking for granted.

I could carry on, but it is over to you now, you get the picture! Why not go and replace a thousand sneaky self-inflicted negative comments with a thousand positive ones. Do that every day and I guarantee your life and your reality will change for the better? Our thoughts and emotions really do create our reality.
